Fender presents what is very likely its most distinctive acoustic bass guitar model ever, the Kingman Bass SCE. Fender has issued a handful of acclaimed acoustic basses in recent years, all with the traditional two-on-each-side tuner scheme on the headstock. What immediately distinguishes the Kingman Bass SCE, however, is its Fender Jazz Bass neck and headstock.
Jazz basses are well known for their slim necks, which easily facilitate fast, articulate playing, and the all-on-one-side tuner configuration has been a Fender hallmark ever since the Telecaster guitar debuted in 1950. The natural-finish Kingman Bass SCE is the first Fender acoustic bass model to incorporate both.
Other features include a single cutaway that allows easy access to the upper frets, special “X” bracing, solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard, rosewood bridge with compensated saddles, Fishman Aero active onboard preamp with tuner and tone controls, block fingerboard inlays, aged fingerboard binding, checkerboard rosette and vintage-inspired gold pickguard.
